Award-winning author Loren D. Estleman has curated a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories from some of the finest authors in Sons of Moriarty and More Stories of Sherlock Holmes. This is the first time that these stories appear together in one anthology, including "Sons of Moriarty," a Sherlock Holmes novella, appearing here for the first time. There is only one new entry in Estleman's newest collection, "Sons of Moriarty and More Stories of Sherlock Holmes," and it was definitely the highlight of the book. However, even the other stories, which have all been published before, are not so commonly reprinted that /5(10). The first book I ever read by Loren D. Estleman was a Sherlock Holmes novel, so I was glad to see a new story by him in Sons of Moriarty and More Stories of Sherlock Holmes, which he also ’s the title story, and the coda gives hope that there will be more in this vein.   Don’t let “Sons of Moriarty and More Stories of Sherlock Holmes” fool you. Its definition of what constitutes a Holmesian tale is so broad as to be meaningless in this collection of seven short stories and editor Loren D. Estleman’s title novella. Let’s take the traditional stories first.

Holmes mentions Moriarty again in five other stories: The Adventure of the Empty House, The Adventure of the Norwood Builder, The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter, The Adventure of the Illustrious Client, and His Last Bow. Moriarty is depicted as a cunning and exceedingly intelligent criminal. He is ruthless and capable of any crime including murder to get what he wants.   Nor could it have, for Sherlock Holmes and Professor James Moriarty were the same person. There are hints, even in the wide-eyed account of the unsuspecting doctor, that this might be so. Professor James Moriarty is a fictional character in some of the Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan ty is a machiavellian criminal mastermind whom Holmes describes as the "Napoleon of crime".
